Albanian-American mezzo soprano Lauren Maho is from Alexandria, Virginia. Based in Chicago, she is pursuing a master degree in Voice and Opera Performance from Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music under the guidance of Theresa Brancaccio. During Northwestern Opera Theater’s 25/26 season, she will cover the title role in Bizet’s Carmen and perform as Taller Zegner Sister in the Chicagoland premiere of Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up and Bianca in Puccini’s La rondine. Outside of Northwestern, Lauren serves as the Alto Section Leader at First Presbyterian Church of Evanston.

This past May, Lauren graduated summa cum laude from Virginia Commonwealth University with her Bachelor of Music in Performance with a concentration in Voice. She performed the roles of Billie (Speed Dating Tonight), Madame de la Haltiere (Cendrillon), Second Lady (The Magic Flute) with VCU Opera, in addition to scenes programs and assisting as stage manager. She was also the mezzo soloist for Mozart Mass in C, a collaboration between VCU Choirs and Symphony.

​​Lauren has achieved notable recognition in the Richmond area and beyond. Recent awards include Upper Division Finalist in the Schmidt Vocal Arts Undergraduate Voice Competition, First Place in the Williamsburg Choral Guild Young Artist Competition’s Undergraduate Level, and Third Place and NSA Qualifier for NATS National Student Auditions.
